One of the joys of writing historical fiction is the research that it involves. Even when you think you know a great deal about a period, you’re almost certain to discover there are gaps in your knowledge. Most of the research, of course, doesn’t find its way into a novel – if it did, the book would be unreadable – but it seems a shame to lose it completely. From the time I published my first title, I decided to include in my website snapshots of the research I’d undertaken. You’ll find social history from the Regency at www.isabellegoddard.com and from the Victorian period onwards, here in Behind the Scenes.
If you have a minute to spare, take a look at some of the topics from the menu on the left. Hopefully you’ll find something new and interesting.
